The verdict handed down today in the Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don in the case of the Alushta group Hizb ut-Tahrir is nothing more than a continuation of the policy of ousting the indigenous Crimean Tatar people and its representative bodies, an act of suppression and condemation for religious beliefs.

According to the Decree, the tasks of the Mission include the provision of expertise, consulting, informational and other support for the implementation of projects and events within the Crimea Platform. For this, a separate structural unit is being created within the Mission, which will be responsible for ensuring the activities of the Crimea Platform.

As we have informed, on 8 August the so-called “employees of the center for countering extremism” broke into the premises of St. Demetrius Solunskyy Monastery of the Crimean Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine of the  in the village of Balky, Bilogirsk district of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and forced the abbot to stop the morning service. Representatives of the occupying power tried to justify their illegal actions by saying that the prayer was conducted in violation of Russian law.

The parties discussed current situation in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol as well as an Inaugural Summit of the Crimean Platform to be held on 23d of August 2021, including the issues of opening the Office of the Crimea Platform.

Mr. Ambassador reaffirmed the non-recognition of attempted annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Сrimea and the city of Sevastopol. Crimea is Ukraine!

On August 9, the whole world celebrates the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. This date was set by the United Nations in response to indigenous peoples being victims of historical injustices as a result of their colonization and deprivation of their lands, territories and resources, which hindered their exercise of the right to development in accordance with their needs and interests. The whole world community and each State individually must care for indigenous peoples in order to preserve and strengthen their institutions, culture and traditions, and to promote their development in accordance with the aspirations and needs of indigenous peoples themselves.

On 9 August on the occasion of the International Day of Indigenous People and within the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, the event, dedicated to the Indigenous People of Ukraine will be launched at the summer stage of the Local Kyiv Garden (the stage “Shell”).

The event will feature a screening of the documentary “Self-Return to Crimea” and a discussion with the film auteurs and authors of the Law of Ukraine “On Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine”, organized by the Laboratory of Public Interest Journalism, the CrimeaSOS team and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People.
