The American online media outlet “Daily Beast” published the article “We’re One Step Closer to Putin’s Crimea Nightmare” quoting the Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva, where she talked about the support of the West, as well as the necessary weapons for the liberation of Crimea.

“We repeat again and again that we need long-range missiles, and as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted, as soon as you give us long-range weapons, we will liberate Crimea”, Ms. Tasheva said.

The journal “Ukrainska Pravda” published the column of the Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva “Global South. Why should Ukraine work with countries that do not give it weapons”.

“I would like to point out that we encountered different opinions regarding work with the Global South because Ukraine receives the main support from the West when it comes to the necessary weapons. But only thanks to close cooperation with this relatively new region for us, Ukraine’s victory will be able to become a unifying factor.

Any polarity, especially when it comes to democratic values ​​and violations of international law, sooner or later, will lead to conflicts that will once again become a threat to world security”, writes Ms. Tamila.

In Spain, as well as in the Spanish-speaking media of Latin America countries – Argentina, Panama, Ecuador, Honduras, Chile, Venezuela – a whole series of publications with reference to the Spanish news agency EFE, devoted to occupied Crimea, quoting the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Tamila Tasheva and the Office of the Crimea Platform, appeared.

The articles highlight the issue of the colonialist policy of the Russian Federation and the transformation of the occupied Crimea into a Russian military base, which gives the aggressor country the opportunity to advance on the mainland of Ukraine and poses a threat to world security. Also, the leitmotif of the publications was the uncompromising nature of the Ukrainian state and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi regarding the territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders of 1991.

The topic of occupied Crimea was picked up by Spanish social networks, where more than a hundred tweets have already appeared with reposts of news and a discussion of the situation on the peninsula in the context of its role in the full-scale invasion of Russia, as well as from historical retrospect’s perspective because this is already the third attempt by Moscow to colonize the peninsula.

This excitement in the Spanish-speaking media once again shows the need to strengthen the dialogue with the countries of the Global South because, as we can see, there is an attention to the Crimean issue in this region. It is Crimea that can become a bridge to understanding with Ukraine’s partners from among the countries of the Global South.

On March 14, Ukraine celebrates the day of those who first met the enemy, first with peaceful protests and then with arms on the battlefield. Hundreds of Crimeans, whose homeland was occupied in 2014, joined their country’s struggle for independence and freedom and continue until now.

It was on March 14, 2014, that the first volunteer battalion of 500 Maidan Self-Defense fighters was formed in Ukraine. A few months later, similar battalions began to form all over Ukraine, including the Crimea battalion. Just yesterday, the volunteers have already formed a strong, capable army. Yesterday, the volunteers will soon become winners.

On March 17 (Friday), an exhibition of photographs by Ukrainian reporters who worked in Crimea after the occupation began, covering human rights violations and filming the lives of families of political prisoners, will be opened at the “MOST City” shopping mall (2 Hlinky St.). Dnipro is one of the six regional centers of Ukraine where the photo exhibition “Stories from the Occupied Crimea” will be shown.

At 10:00, a press conference will be held in the cinema hall (2nd level), during which speakers will talk about the idea of the exhibition, the persecution of Crimean Tatars and pro-Ukrainian activists, and the current situation in Crimea. After the press conference, journalists will be invited to see the exhibition “Stories from the Occupied Crimea”.

From the very beginning of the occupation of Crimea, Russia has been carrying out large-scale repressions. As of today, more than 150 people – most of them Crimean Tatars – have been imprisoned for political reasons, 43 Ukrainian activists have been abducted, 11 of them are missing, and one person remains in custody. The repression is still ongoing.

For ten days, residents and guests of Dnipro will be able to see the works of Ukrainian reporters Alina Smutko, Taras Ibragimov and Alyona Savchuk, who documented the lives of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainian activists in Crimea from 2014 to 2019.

Last October, the photo exhibition “Stories from the Occupied Crimea” was presented at the First Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform (Zagreb, Croatia), and in December – during the celebrations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

In addition to Dnipro, the photo exhibition “Stories from the Occupied Crimea” was shown in Khmelnytskyi, Kropyvnytskyi and Chernivtsi, and will be held in Lutsk and Lviv.

 Aksyonov also said that the number of local population in the occupied Crimea has increased due to the influx of Russians.

Today, Vladyslav Yesypenko celebrates his 54th birthday in illegal detention. FSS officers detained him on March 10, 2021, in the occupied Crimea, and the occupying court sentenced him to 5 years in prison for allegedly “collecting information for Ukraine’s special services” and “possession of homemade explosives in a car”.

With this “verdict”, the occupiers once again showed that they want to imprison even the manifestations of freedom of speech because this is what Mr. Yesypenko was doing – he was a blogger and contributor to “Krym.Realii”, conducted surveys and worked on social issues. He did what is allowed in the entire civilized world, but what the occupiers do not tolerate.

For telling the truth about life under occupation, he suffered torture and death threats, denial of access to independent lawyers and forced filming of the so-called “confession” that the occupiers boasted about on their TV channels. The journalist’s wife, Kateryna Esypenko, does not miss any event supporting political prisoners whenever possible and makes every effort to ensure that her husband is home as soon as possible, alive and well. Together with Kateryna, his young daughter Stefania is also waiting for the journalist’s release.

Only the deoccupation of Crimea will guarantee the release of political prisoner Vladyslav Yesypenko. Only the liberation of the peninsula from the occupiers will bring the release of 180 more of our citizens who are illegally imprisoned only for remaining true to themselves and Ukraine!
